Tour of Ohariu electorate with Labour MPs
Labour List MP Charles Chauvel hosted fellow Labour MPs David Cunliffe, Darren Hughes, Pete Hodgson, Lynne Pillay and Darien Fenton on a visit to the Ohariu electorate.
The visits were part of a regional caucus visit by Labour MPs, focusing on the Rimutaka, Wellington Central and Ohariu electorates.
Chauvel, who is based in the Ohariu electorate, travelled with the MPs from the Wellington Railway station to Johnsonville by train. The trip included an update by ONTRACK Project Manager David Gordon on the improvements to the Johnsonville Line and new stations as part of the upgrade to an important part of Wellington’s public transport network, whose funding was made available by the previous Labour-led Government.
The MPs then visited Daisies Early Childhood Centre, run by Dr Anne Meade and her daughter Linda Meade. Dr Meade is a renowned Early Childhood Education (ECE) teacher and researcher, who has helped develop ECE policy over the past two decades.
Chauvel and the MPs also visited the local Johnsonville Mall with representatives of CSS Disability Action, before visiting Longview Retirement Village in Tawa. The village features new initiatives involving the local community, as part of creating an inclusive environment for those who live at Longview
