Save Radio New Zealand Rally

Charles Chauvel joined fellow Labour and Green party MPs at Parliament to rally in support of Radio New Zealand.

The rally also met to oppose a move by the Government to cap funding to the State broadcaster, and force it to run on a commercial model, contrary to its current role as a commercial free broadcaster.

Chauvel, an avid fan of Concert FM and Morning Report, spoke to the crowd on the day, to a crowd of supporters who had brought their own radios (tuned to Radio New Zealand) for the rally.

Those concerned by the Government’s actions, and want to show their support for Radio New Zealand can join the Facebook Group here or sign the e-petition organised by Labour’s Broadcasting Spokesperson Brendan Burns here.
