Friends of the Pacific in New Zealand

On Wednesday 24 February, Labour List MP Charles Chauvel hosted a visit of delegates from Pacific Friends of the Global Fund.

The delegation was comprised of

·       Dr Michel Kazatchkine, Executive Director, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

·       Dr Stefan Emblad, Director, Resource Mobilization, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

·       Ms Safia Ladak, Special Assistant to the Executive Director

·       Ms Wendy McCarthy AO, Chair, Pacific Friends of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

·       Mr Bill Bowtell, Executive Director, Pacific Friends of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

As part of their visit, the delegates visited Parliament and met with Chauvel.

Pacific Friends of the Global Fund is an advocacy organisation dedicated to building strong political and financial support for the life-saving work of the Fund and the fight against HIV, TB and Malaria in the Pacific region.

Chauvel, along with former Prime Minister Helen Clark were appointed New Zealand's inaugural representatives on the Board of the Pacific Friends of the Global Fund in February 2009.
