"So Far the World" Book Launch

On Tuesday 1 June Charles Chauvel hosted the book launch of So Far the World (Si Loin du Monde) for Little Island Press at Parliament.

So Far the World is the story of Tava'e Raioaoa, who was cast adrift in the Pacific Ocean for more than 100 days when his boat engine failed him. Tava'e told his story to French journalist, Lionel Duroy, who wrote the book Si Loin du Monde. Jean Anderson translated the book into english and Little Island Press asked Charles to host the launch as Parliament's first Tahitian MP.

The evening was attended by many guests, and Charles, Jean and Robyn Bern from Little Island press all spoke at the event. Guests were also treated to a performance by Cook Island performers, Porirua Main Event.
