Australasian Council of Public Accounts Committees Mid-Term Meeting

As Chair of New Zealand’s Finance and Expenditure Committee, Charles attended the Australasian Council of Public Accounts Committees (ACPAC) mid-term meeting, which took place from 28 – 30 May. The meeting was hosted by the South Australian Economic and Finance Committee (EFC) in Adelaide.

ACPAC consists of all public accounts committees from throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Fiji, with associate membership also open to other Public Accounts Committees.

The mid-term meeting gives member committees the opportunity to speak with each other about their core functions and objectives without the wider audience, debates and issues of ACPAC’s loner and larger biennial conference.

New Zealand is hosting the 2009 meeting in April, in conjunction with a global gathering of Auditors-General, and Charles led a comprehensive discussion of the agenda and structure of that conference, including several sessions directed at the needs of the region’s developing countries.
