2008 Victoria University Parliamentary Internship Programme

In 2008 Charles was involved in Victoria University’s Parliamentary Internship programme, which provides a limited number of selected postgraduate students with the opportunity to work with a Member of Parliament for the year. Charles’ intern was Catriona MacGregor, a student completing her Honours degree in Public Policy.

Set up in 2000 by Victoria University Professor Stephen Levine, the programme gives participating students the opportunity to gain insights into: the parliamentary process; the roles and responsibilities of Members of Parliament; the functions and activities of parliamentary research units; the conduct of select committees; and the activities of parliamentary parties.

As part of Catriona’s internship experience she attended select committees and wrote speeches, reports and conference papers for Charles.
