ANZAC Bridge Statue Unveiling

On Sunday 27 April, Charles joined the Prime Minister and five other New Zealand MPs to unveil a statue of a New Zealand World War One soldier on ANZAC Bridge in Sydney.

In 2000 a 4.2 metre tall bronze statue of an Australian World War One Digger was placed at the north-western end of the bridge. The addition of the Kiwi soldier to complement the existing Australian soldier symbolises the proud traditions we share, and the enduring strength of the ANZAC relationship, thus completing the ANZAC partnership theme exemplified in the formation of that very word.

The twin statues of the soldiers will be fitting reminders of the common sacrifice, the wider ANZAC tradition, and the very close bond that exists to this day between New Zealanders and Australians.
