Meeting with 350 Aotearoa

Today, Charles met with Charlie, Heidi and Aaron of 350 Aotearoa to discuss action on Climate Change.

350 Aotearoa is the New Zealand movement of 350.org, founded by American environmentalist Bill McKibben, a worldwide organisation devoted to creating "a new sense of unity and urgency" toward solutions to the enormous issue of climate change.

The name, comes from the observation by climate scientists that the safe upper limit for CO2 - Carbon Dioxide, just one of a number of greenhouse gases, is 350 parts per million (ppm) in the atmosphere. The current level is 387 ppm, and that concentration is currently growing.

Charles has already spoken at 350 Aotearoa's Demonstration at Parliament, just prior to the 350.org Climate Change Action launch event last year, his speech is here.

Today's discussion involved an update on the groups activities, as they build up to their day of action on October 24, and activites around the 15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 15), being held in Coppenhagen later this year.

More information on 350.org Aotearoa can be found at their website here.
