Wellington Free Ambulance

Since 1927, Wellington Free Ambulance, New Zealand's only free metropolitan ambulance service, has been providing emergency ambulance care for the people of greater Wellington. An Incorporated Society run by its own board of management, WFA is an essential service provider for the community - committed to providing high quality clinical care in emergency situations, pre-hospital care, rescue and transport services. Appeals are one of the key fundraising activities undertaken by WFA and incorporate direct marketing and street collections throughout greater Wellington. When combined, these appeals raise approximately $400,000 a year, and contribute significantly to offsetting the Organisation's annual deficit.

Charles supported WFA by collecting in its street appeal this year on Friday 2 November. The 2007 street appeal took place in the Central City, Wainuiomata, Johnsonville, Waikanae and Upper Hutt. Over 100 helpers volunteered to collect funds, along with assistance from local businesses and organisations.
