Adult and Community Education Public Meetings

Last Thursday, Charles attended two public meetings on ACE. The morning meeting, held in Porirua for Mana / Tawa residents, and also attended by Phil Goff and Winnie Laban, was packed, with standing room only, filled with people concerned about the budget cuts, from a wide range of backgrounds. In the evening, Charles hosted another very well-attended meeting, held in Newlands. A motion was passed unanimously, requesting that the Government overturn the budget cuts for ACE. A thank you to all those who came to those meetings, and shared their views.
You can hear more about the meeting here (Courtesy of Radio New Zealand).
But the campaign is not over yet, and you can help. The best way that you can help is to share your stories and your thoughts on why the ACE cuts have to go. As Maryan Street, the Labour Party's ACE spokesperson has pointed out, “There's a difference between making hard decisions and making wrong decisions. This decision is wrong.” Contact the Minister of Education, as well as other members of the Government like Peter Dunne, and Maori Party and National MPs, and make them aware of how wrong this decision is.
Alternatively, you can help get signatures on petitions. A copy can be downloaded from my website here. You can send completed petitions back to the following address:
